DeLaval on line cell counter OCC receives multiple awards

DeLaval on line cell counter OCC, the first automatic somatic cell counter available for voluntary milking systems, has received several awards in Spain, France and Belgium.

In France, the OCC won the InnovSpace Two Star Award for best innovation and the gold medal for best animal welfare product at the SPACE Exhibition. At the FIMA Exhibition in Spain it also won the Technical Innovation award, and in Belgium it was awarded the Sabot d`Or at the Brussels International Agricultural Fair. The OCC makes it possible to identify acute mastitis cases and follow-up on sub-clinical cases, increasing milk quality, health and profitability of the herd.

 

New rotary milking solutions

At the global Solution Release Meeting in New Zealand, President and CEO Joakim Rosengren presented the DeLaval TURN-STYLES PR1100 & PR2100 rotary milking solution.  A visit was also paid to Russell Joblin’s farm, the owners of the first PR2100 installation.

The introduction of the new PR rotary received good press coverage, leading to a strong start in the New Zealand market with positive feedback from dealers and increased sales.

 

Knowledge sharing at Top Dealer Conference

Representatives from 36 countries and 80 dealerships attended the second Top Dealer Conference in Stockholm. During the opening, President and CEO Joakim Rosengren encouraged the industry to learn from each other to drive progress in milk production.

DeLaval staff contributed by introducing best practices within several areas, such as capitalisation on milking solutions, growing the service business, support tools for sales and service as well as dairy management and after market solutions.

 

The future of Korean dairy farming

In May, DeLaval held ‘The Future of Korean Dairy Farming International Seminar’ in South Korea to discuss global dairy industry trends and their future impact for South Korea. A visit was also paid to Yonsam Farm, where the first VMS in South Korea was installed. The event was well attended by press and industry representatives. With the message ‘we support your ambitions’, the seminar presented how DeLaval’s concept of total solutions can support Korean dairy farmers, further establishing DeLaval as an attractive and realistic option for the South Korean dairy industry.

 

Minister of Agriculture visits family farm

Together with DeLaval the Swedish Minister for Agriculture, Mr. Eskil Erlandsson, visited with the Waybright family and board members of Mason-Dixon Farms in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. The Waybright family have incorporated DeLaval voluntary milking system VMS into their large herd operation. The VMS allows them to maximise cow comfort while exceeding US commercial dairy herd production goals.

The minister commented, ‘It is absolutely fantastic to see such a large farm with excellent animal welfare in combination with DeLaval VMS from my own country’.

 

DeLaval introduces heavy duty manure handling

In April, DeLaval introduced a new range of manure handling systems for the heavy duty segment. The new system, paired with high quality, innovative product offerings and technical support, represents a major step for DeLaval in moving torward to a leading position in the cow comfort area.

The new range expands the DeLaval manure system offering to cover a wider spectrum of milk producers, from small family farms up to heavy duty operations.

 

A nutritious partnership

Cargill and DeLaval have signed an agreement to market and promote complete nutritional solutions on a global scale. This joint venture gives dairy producers access to complete feeding systems. Apart from launching specific product packages, there will also be the possibility to “mix and match” products from both assortments. Cargill supplies feedstuffs, nutritional supplements and advice while DeLaval installs and services feeding stations, a combination that creates new solutions for modern dairy farming.

 

DeLaval wins Grand Award of Design 2007

DeLaval’s product design concept ‘DeLaval Flow’ won the Grand Award of Design 2007. The award, encouraging business development focusing on design, is presented by the Swedish Society of Crafts and Design and the Swedish Industrial Design Foundation. The citation states that ‘The design work is an inspiring and progressive example to other Swedish companies to follow’. The design concept, developed in co-operation with Reload Design,  includes how to apply form, graphics, colours, and materials on systems and products in order to create a unique DeLaval design.
