DeLaval celebrated World Milk Day in a big way!
Roberts Dairy and Dairy Farmers of America graciously donated thousands of milk, ice cream and cheese products that brought smiles to all ages at the Liberty and Merriam Farmer’s Markets on Saturday, May 30th. DeLaval employees enthusiastically volunteered their day to share the health benefits of milk as well as informing the public that DeLaval has been providing quality milking solutions to dairymen around the world for more than 135 years!
June 1st, we kicked off the official World Milk Day celebration by collaborating with Roberts Dairy to deliver hundreds of milk cartons to City Rescue Mission located in downtown Kansas City. Tara Richardson, Food Service Manager said, “This is such a blessing and came just exactly when we needed it”. City Rescue serves 300 meals per day to homeless people in Kansas City.
We also traveled to the La Petite Academy to share the story of milk and how DeLaval helps dairymen harvest the perfect food. The preschoolers already knew a lot about milk and they were thrilled to get free chocolate milk and coloring books to enjoy!
These efforts support the World Food Organization’s primary Millennium Development Goals of the United Nations to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger as well as support universal primary education for children around the world.
Thanks very much to Jon Elscott, Pam Boyd, Sharon Doris, Debbie Dye, Lori Cox, Anita Maasen, Michele McGee, and Melissa Raines for volunteering your time. And thanks to everyone who shared in the celebration efforts by purchasing World Milk Day T-Shirts. We can make a difference in a big way when we work together! |
