Collecting DeLaval items has been going on for over 100 years. DeLaval items can be found at just about any flea market or antique shop. This page is a guide to dating a few of the more common items.
For additional reference books on collecting DeLaval items, see the related books section above right.
Many of the early DeLaval collectibles had the number of cream separator's in use printed on them. Below is a chart that can be used to date those items.
1884 ........350,000 in use 1885 ........400,000 in use 1904 ........500,000 in use 1906 ........750,000 in use 1908 ........900,000 in use 1909 ........1,000,000 in use 1910 ........1,100,000 in use 1912 ........1,375,000 in use 1913 ........1,500,000 in use 1915 ........1,750,000 in use 1917 ........2,000,000 in use 1919 ........2,235,000 in use 1920 ........2,500,000 in use 1928 ........4,000,000 in use
Dating a cream separator is also easy. Just look under the spouts. There will be a number that will be cast into the top front of the separator frame. The first 2 digits will be year of manufacture. These numbers would have also been on the bottom of the disc holder if the holder was original to that frame.

Another common collectable is the tin DeLaval cows that were produced from 1909 to 1929, 3 breeds were produced. The cows have a 2 digit date of manufacture on the backs.
There are hundreds of other DeLaval collectables, far too many to list here. We recommend that you use the related books listed above or visit your local library to gather additional information.
In addition you can contact any of the collectors listed on the right.
